The Parakeet Handbook Review
The Parakeet Handbook is a good work budgie care. The style of writing is very easy to read, which helps you to get through all of the information. The full color photos add some viewing pleasure to reading it, and the diagrams are useful learning tools. When you know that Annette Wolter also has author credits for Parakeets: A Complete Pet Owner's Manual, then you expect this book to live up to a certain standard. In my opinion this book is a little better as it is more thorough. If you are new to the world of budgies, or just not so clued up, then this book will guide you through everything that you really need to know. From care to feeding, from behavior to breeding, this book is well written and informative. The book is easy to navigate if you want to look up something specific. The contents pages break the book down into chapters, and the chapters into subsections. There is also a clear index at the back of the book. Together they mean that you can easily dip into the book to find out what you need to know. Throughout the book you can tell that Annette Wolter is an experienced bird owner. Her advice is always clear and accurate, and she knows how to keep your budgie happy and healthy. Throughout the book opinions on proper budgie care are repeated. Certain points concerning your budgie’s well being are really driven home. For example, the author tells you that your budgie needs a companion for their mental well being. That your budgie should have as large a cage as you can afford. And that your budgie needs to be able to fly around regularly. These points are expressed in most budgie books but I think this book will make more people take them to heart, which can only be a good thing. The information and advice about budgie illnesses is a lot more thorough than some competing book. Where other book leave you with the feeling that the information has been dumbed down, this book informs you in an honest, almost scientific way. ConclusionAfter reading this book you will feel like you have a thorough understanding of budgies and how to care for them.
