Parakeets: A Complete Pet Owner's Manual Review
This 87 page book on budgie care is pretty good. It contains a decent amount of information on all aspects of budgie care. And it is written in an easy to read style, with references to the authors own experiences with her birds that help to get her point across. There are numerous color pictures which are pleasing to look at. Along side them, there are black and white educational diagrams that are very informative. The book is broken down into eight chapters and covers a range of topics including: health, behavior, taming, toys, diet, cages and breeding. There are also tips on purchasing a budgie. I found the book to be very informative and well laid out. It’s a great reference book for the novice budgie owner. Though the book is called Parakeets: A Complete Pet Owner's Manual (Parakeet is another name for a budgie,) it isn’t quite a definitive work on the subject. However, it is a good book, filled with useful information. It probably includes as much information as most budgie owners will ever need to know. The two tables in the book dealing with Dangers To The Parakeet & Parakeet Health Problems are very useful. Along side the section on preventing diseases and boredom, it gives you more than enough information to keep your budgie fit and well. Any budgie owner will find the section on behavior absolutely fascinating. It will help you to understand your bird a lot better, and understand why he acts the way he does. The section on teaching your budgie how to talk is very well done. And it goes nicely with the information on intelligence and behavior. With a little effort you can have your budgie chatting away in no time. If you already own a half-decent budgie care book, then you probably won’t find enough extra information in this one to make purchasing it worth while. Since it’s only 87 pages long – about average for budgie care books – it won’t take you long to get through at all. The time you take to read the book will be well spent.
